In Reply To DRLs are not "ultra powerful". They are most often lowbeams posted by Z-Jay (Edmonton, AB) on November 01, 2005 at 02:49 PM

Message Many DRLs, such as on the Corvettes, Camaros, and numerous other vehicles, violate almost all local vehicle codes. Yes, even your local code.

For instance, California Vehicle Code 24800 clearly states, "24800. No vehicle shall be driven at any time with the parking lamps lighted except when the lamps are being used as turn signal lamps or when the headlamps are also lighted." The DRLs, such as those found on these cars, light the parking lights, not auxiliary or headlamps.

CVC 24801 furthermore adds, "Parking lamps are those lamps ... designed to be displayed primarily when the vehicle is parked." In laymen terms, you cannot drive with only your parking lamps on, or in this case of the above-mentioned vehicles, your DRLs.
